The 2023–24 Manchester City Away shirt has been unveiled by treble winners Manchester City and leading global sports brand Puma. The city’s soaring mills, humming warehouses, and industry served as inspiration for the new Away kit. The shirt’s all-over tonal graphic print, which takes design cues from vintage Manchester weave patterns, gives off a throwback vibe.
The shirt’s accent colors, which honor the city’s artistic legacy and include brilliant gold flame highlights that were inspired by Manchester’s renowned Ancoats brickworks, blend well with the basic white base color. A symbolic rendering of the city’s factory skyline is also displayed on the inside of the neck. The jersey guarantees that City citizens represent their group and the starting point of it all, from the streets of Manchester to the grandest platform in Europe.
“We wanted to design a kit that was fit for champions,” said Marco Mueller, senior head of product line management for teamsport gear at Puma. “Whether worn on the field or in the stands, the jersey combines contemporary design features with allusions to the city itself, creating something that truly resonates with people who wear it. The jersey is inspired by Manchester and features classical collar with industrial colors for a very modern yet timeless look.
“We’re excited to complete our lineup of kits for the upcoming season by announcing our 2023/24 Away kit today. As part of our preseason tour of Asia, our exciting Third kit, which debuted last month in Tokyo, as well as our celebratory Home kit, which premiered in May to mark 20 years of the Etihad Stadium, have both been extremely well received and have once again broken club sales records. Serena Gosling, director of integrated fan experience and retail and licensing at Manchester City, stated, “As we launch our Away kit today, we hope that our fans adore the inspiration and design of this jersey too.
The kit’s structural, 4-way stretch construction, made possible by the use of Ultraweave fabric, lowers weight and friction while letting players to move freely and comfortably. According to a press statement from Puma, the fabric’s integrated dryCell technology is intended to prevent moisture from building up on the body.
The replica is constructed entirely from recycled polyester and features dryCell sweat-wicking technology to keep you dry and at ease for the full 90 minutes and beyond, regardless of the time, pitch, or location. With the exception of the trims and embellishments, both jerseys are entirely constructed from recycled materials.
