Launch of a real-time shipment tracker by Lenzing

LENZING: To increase the transparency of carbon emissions, Austrian fiber maker Lenzing has partnered with supply chain solutions provider Project44 to introduce a real-time maritime cargo tracker.

ITohelp Lenzing’s customers meet their carbon emission goals, the tracker gives them access to Scope 3 carbon emission data that has been validated by the Global Logistics Emission Council (GLEC) framework at the shipment and container level.

It claims to provide precise real-time information on fiber orders, ranging from shipping status and container position to route tracking and anticipated arrival timings at ports. It is made possible by artificial intelligence (AI), GPS sensors, and machine-learning technology.

According to Thomas Panholzer, vice president of global supply chain at Lenzing, “Over the past couple of years, supply chain disruptions have highlighted the importance of advanced ocean shipment tracking.”

“With supply chain transparency and sustainability taking on greater significance, our ability to implement ground-breaking carbon emission tracking at shipment and container level demonstrates that we are ready and eager to collaborate with our valued customers in jointly developing ambitious carbon reduction targets,” the company said.

Lenzing and its clients will be able to set goals and modify shipment schedules to cut carbon emissions thanks to the real-time data provided by the tracker, which uses the Project44 platform, Movement.

According to Jett McCandless, founder and CEO of Project44, “Successful collaborations continue to depend on supply chain visibility.” “Lenzing’s shipment tracker, powered by Project44’s unique data and insights, gives customers unprecedented access to real-time information that locates shipments across the globe.”

The tracker will help the company meet its climate change goals, according to Durai Palanisamy, executive director of Indian textile manufacturer Pallavaa Group.

According to Palanisamy, “We value Lenzing’s ongoing commitment to support our journey towards reducing carbon emissions.”

Beginning this month, all customers globally will have access to Lenzing’s real-time ocean shipment tracking.
