Ahmedabad University and Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association (ATIRA) have teamed up to enhance education, research and development, and offer services to the industries in these fields in order to support the expanding composites and technical textiles sectors.
An innovative two-year Master of Technology and PhD in Composites program offered by Ahmedabad University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science would be one of the main forces behind this collaboration.
The MTech in Composites Program will offer a solid foundation in advanced mechanics, design, manufacturing, and testing relevant to composite components and structures through the technical proficiency and resources of both schools.
“This collaboration will strengthen academics at Ahmedabad University, and with faculty and students participating at ATIRA, a robust support system for research, development, and outreach will be created,” said Professor Sunil Kale, Dean, School of Engineering and Applied Science, Ahmedabad University. The Venture-Studio incubator at Ahmedabad University will support the development of start-ups based on technological textiles and composites. The collaboration will also focus on the requirement to improve these workers’ skill sets.
The government is considering a large development of the technical textiles industry in the nation, according to Pragnesh Shah, Director of ATIRA. They are giving significant priority to market research, industry professionals, and reputable engineering institutions that can handle the demands of this sector. To meet this demand, we must prepare a skilled workforce. It will be vital for ATIRA to promote innovation and encourage industry in adopting these cutting-edge technologies in order to connect industry with academic research at Ahmedabad University.
