Currently, 60 of the top 100 factories in the world, as accredited by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, are located in Bangladesh.
The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) recently awarded LEED certification to two more garment factories, Saadatia Sweaters Ltd in Ashulia, Dhaka, and Executive Greentex Ltd in Sreepur, Gazipur. As a result, there are now 226 green factories in the nation, according to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
Executive Greentex received Gold certification with a score of 69, whereas Saadatia Sweaters received Platinum certification with a score of 91. 89 Platinum and 123 Gold-certified factories exist in the nation, according to reports from local media.
Based on factors like energy, water, and waste management, as well as transformation success, the council awards factories.
