The Italian luxury fashion brand Maison Valentino has unveiled its first Sustainability Report for 2022, continuing its commitment to implementing morally and socially conscious business practices. The report, which adheres to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard, provides specific goals, milestones, and objectives in line with the company’s sustainability policy, “Let the Beauty Prosper.”
“As a Maison de Couture, it is important for us to keep developing sustainably while building resiliency and maintaining repeatable, ethical, and responsible growth,” CEO Jacopo Venturini and creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli said in a joint statement included in the study. At Valentino, we are dedicated to fostering a culture that values the environment and the community and we recognize how urgent it is to act on sustainability.
“We have a duty and an opportunity to keep raising the bar with constant improvement,” they continued. Considering this, we are pleased to release our maison’s inaugural Sustainability Report. This is an attempt to set challenging goals and evaluate our success using a scientific, evidence-based methodology. Our goal is to lead with intention, benefiting everyone, the community, and the organization.
Three main tenets form the framework of the report. The People part provides information about the group’s community projects, while the Product section emphasizes the need of upholding “couture excellence and ethical values” in the supply chain. The section on Planet explores Valentino’s carbon impact and his involvement in circular ventures.
The report includes specific details as well as an overview of Valentino’s operational plan’s main goals. These include integrating 90% renewable energy throughout the organization by 2030, guaranteeing the traceability of 100% of essential raw materials by 2030, and educating 80% of staff members on the sustainability plan by 2026.
