The eco-friendly TRAPIS textile pigment transfer system is introduced by Mimaki Europe

Mimaki Europe, a prominent supplier of cutting plotters, 3D printers, and industrial inkjet printers, has formally introduced “TRAPIS,” a technology for printing textile pigment transfer. This environmentally friendly technology, which was unveiled at ITMA 2023, will be available later this year. It provides a sustainable and user-friendly solution for textile applications, cutting wastewater by almost 90% when compared to conventional methods.

With TRAPIS, printing is done in just two steps using a calendar and an inkjet printer. The inkjet printer prints the chosen design onto transfer paper using special ink, and the calendar is used to transfer it onto the cloth.

Mimaki Europe’s General Manager of Sales, Arjen Evertse, highlighted his delight at the commercial launch of TRAPIS at FESPA, highlighting its sustainable and innovative features that cater to the changing needs of the industry. Thanks to this integrated solution, print service providers may efficiently produce high-quality textile applications while reducing expenses, time, and environmental impact.

Furthermore, TRAPIS may be installed in constrained places or even at the entrance of a printshop because it does away with the need for expensive and large wastewater treatment facilities. Unlike the complex seven- or eight-step processes of traditional printing technologies, this system gives print service providers an easy-to-use alternative for textile printing that doesn’t require specialized knowledge.

The corresponding ink is bluesign® APPROVED and certified with ZDHC MRSL Lv.3, guaranteeing consumer and workplace safety. Stretchability, colorfastness, breathability, and water absorbability are among the fundamental textile qualities that are preserved in prints made with TRAPIS, which makes them appropriate for a variety of industries including home textiles, sportswear, and fashion.
