Saudi Arabia plans to establish 59 logistics zones by 2030 and increase port capacity

Saudi Arabia has announced plans to establish 59 logistics zones and increase port capacity to more than 40 million containers by 2030.

Rumaih Al Rumaih, deputy minister of transport and logistic services and acting head of the Saudi Transport General Authority, stated at a London event that the kingdom intends to be among the top 10 nations in the logistics performance index by 2030.

“We’ve made significant progress in improving the marine environment, and we are pleased to be fostering collaborations with the IMO [International Maritime Organisation] and its member states on initiatives that strengthen climate action and cooperation among seafarers,” he was quoted as saying by Saudi media.

The kingdom will host the Maritime Industry Sustainability Conference this September, with the theme ‘Innovation for a Greener Future’, according to the deputy minister.
