James Heal, a UK-based provider of textile testing solutions, has celebrated 25 years of innovation since the development of their first Titan universal testing machine in 1999 by introducing two new instruments in their tensile and compression testing range.
James Heal created the Titan 25 in response to consumer demand for high-capacity testing items as the market for personal protective equipment (PPE), particularly safety gear, equipment, and footwear, has been steadily expanding. The company’s choice to produce larger capacity test instrumentation was also driven by the growing need for testing solutions for broader industrial, transportation, and sporting applications.
The 10kN Titan 10 has been improved, and the new Titan 25 is the largest capacity universal tester to join the line, capable of testing up to 25kN. The new instruments are user-centric in design, providing efficiencies through automation, quick change connections for tooling that is compatible with a wide range of tools, improved software, and improved safety measures.
These adaptable dual-column instruments allow a broad variety of tensile and compression tests to be performed on bigger specimens. With load cells ranging from 100N to 25kN, testing may be done as low as 2N, offering labs the most flexibility and financial return possible.
The new Titan testers are easy to use and come with over 750 pre-loaded standard procedures in the TestWise software. Users can also customize and save their standards. For every test that is chosen, the software automatically sets the settings, saving setup time and removing human mistakes.
James Heal Technical Specialist Peter Goodwin states, “Lab technicians can begin working right away because TestWise software requires very little training.” Fast setup increases laboratory productivity and allows for higher test throughput. Meanwhile, the improved TestWise software and standards have also helped the ever-popular Titan 5 single column 5kN tester; adapters are available to make tooling interoperable with the whole Titan range.
“We are extremely excited to be announcing the launch of these new universal testing machines at Techtextil as we celebrate 25 years since the first model Titan1 debuted in 1999,” says Samantha Tissington, commercial director at James Heal. The new Titan dual column testers are an excellent addition to our wide array of instruments covering quality, durability, and performance testing across a wide range of products and industries. Applications are no longer restricted to textiles used in home goods and clothing, for example.
At James Heal, we take great pride in the inventiveness and durability of our instruments, many of which are still in use today over two decades after they were manufactured. This is made possible by our team of skilled engineers, who travel the globe to maintain our customers’ lab equipment. James Heal was founded in Halifax, West Yorkshire, in 1872. They create and produce high-end textile testing devices that are distributed all over the world along with test supplies and consumables needed for precise, dependable testing.
