ICA and TextileGenesis collaborate on sustainable fashion traceability

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the International Cotton Association (ICA) and TextileGenesis, a blockchain platform based in Bengaluru, has been formalized to improve digital collaboration and promote ethical trade and sustainability in the apparel and textile industry. The platform, a division of the Lectra Group, specializes in the traceability of apparel and textiles. By digitally mapping materials, it makes use of cutting-edge technology to track the entire sustainable textile supply chain. The platform enables trustworthy and secure data interchange and tracking throughout the lifecycle of the materials, ultimately promoting a more transparent and sustainable industry.

This ground-breaking traceability system covers the whole textile value chain and is supported by an extensive network of fabric certification partners. Because of the relationship with ICA, all parties involved in the cotton supply chain will be informed if they may be doing business with a firm that ICA has declared dangerous.

The CEO and creator of TextileGenesis, Amit Gautam, emphasizes the importance of this partnership by stressing ICA’s significant influence in the cotton trade industry. He emphasizes that ICA’s participation in commercial arbitration proceedings and knowledge of non-compliant businesses provide an essential layer to TextileGenesis’ risk assessment metrics, giving their users useful notifications.

In the past, TextileGenesis and Renewcell collaborated to create a thorough traceability agreement in May 2023, guaranteeing complete pulp-to-retail traceability for Renewcell’s CIRCULOSE® recycled raw material throughout the textile supply chain.
