A major force in Germany’s circular textile market, TURNS GmbH, has teamed up with Tailorlux GmbH to create a ground-breaking partnership that will advance traceability and transparency for items made from recycled cotton. By utilizing physical traceability methods and European post-consumer textile waste to produce fully circular products, this partnership demonstrates their dedication to sustainability. Through their relationship with Tailorlux, TURNS is able to precisely track and validate the recycled content in each textile product by utilizing high-resolution spectroscopy and state-of-the-art tracer fibers. This ground-breaking method guarantees physical verification at every stage, from fiber to yarn to fabric, offering unmatched accountability and transparency.
This innovative concept started at the ALTEX recycling facility in Germany, which carefully sorts and processes post-consumer waste clips from all across the country. In order to convert these waste textiles into premium TURNS recycled fibers, ALTEX is essential.
These environmentally friendly fibers are spun into yarn and then sewn into sustainable textiles. These materials, which adhere to strict environmental regulations, are then tailored into fashionable outfits that represent the circular fashion tenets. Tailorlux traceability technology is incorporated into every garment to guarantee a transparent and traceable journey from waste clip to final product.
“This partnership intends to safeguard against greenwashing claims, guarantee product integrity, and offer tangible evidence of recycled material content. We can prove that TURNS’ goods have the precise percentage of recycled content they claim by coordinating physical traceability with precise quantification of recycled cotton. This project fosters sustainable behaviors and increases consumer confidence while supporting the larger objectives of a circular economy.- Tobias Herzog, Tailorlux managing director
The strongest evidence that post-consumer recycling is a reality in Germany right now and not just a dream or a promotional ploy is physically verifiable transparency. We launched TURNS a year ago in an effort to upend the fashion industry. We are demonstrating today that we are not only talking about change, but really bringing it about with the Tailorlux tracer fibers. – Katja Wagner, TURNS GmbH co-founder
“We are pleased to be a part of this partnership as a cutting-edge facility to recycle textile waste into new, high-quality products. We desire that Tailorlux and TURNS both disclose the impact of their traceability.- Jan Stienemann, Altex’s R&D manager
