Coats Digital enhances GSDCost with new features to facilitate effective, transparent, and long-lasting vendor partnerships

A new feature of Coats Digital’s scientifically-based, award-winning GSDCost solution has been revealed. With the help of this innovation, brands and vendor partners can work together more productively and meaningfully, encouraging sustainable and ethical growth throughout the fashion supply chain.

With the use of precise Standard Minute Values (SMVs) and scientifically supported international standard time benchmarks, brands may now take advantage of new features in GSDCost. With the help of this feature, legitimate Bill of Labor (BOL) clothing style requests can be created and sent out at the same time to several merchants. From a single platform, brands can then rapidly compare and contrast different Cost-to-Make (CM) replies.

In the apparel business, Coats Digital’s GSDCost method analysis and pre-determined timings solution are widely acknowledged as the de facto international standard. Through the establishment and optimization of “International Standard Time Benchmarks,” it enables manufacturers and brands to engage in a more transparent, cooperative, and sustainable supply chain. In addition to satisfying CSR obligations, the application of a single, scientific language and standards facilitates fact-based bargaining, precise cost estimation, and an enhanced efficiency of the clothing manufacturing process. Furthermore, brands and manufacturers may swiftly agree on fair living wage allowances for any given garment in any factory worldwide by using GSDCost’s expanded globalized Fair Wage Tool, which uses data from the Fair Wage Network.

“We have listened carefully to what our brand customers have been saying about the challenges they face trying to collaborate more effectively and meaningfully with suppliers while securing more accurate CM quotes based on a standardised set of criteria,” said Stuart McCready-Stocks, Brands Commercial Director at Coats Digital. As a result, we have put a lot of effort into creating a set of special, brand-focused features in GSDCost that will allow brands to Create, Collaborate, and Compare reliable BOL estimates for all of the vendors in their value supply chains using the same evaluation methodology and terminology.

The recently introduced Create, Collaborate, and Compare functionalities in GSDCost offer companies comprehensive data insights to generate a comprehensive picture of their vendor partners’ productivity outputs, machines capabilities, ethical compliance, and fair wage practices. Brands can determine BOL disparities across vendors by utilizing particular departmental SMV indicators and taking into account elements such as modern machinery, automation, sustainability, and equitable pay standards. This makes it easier for brands to decide quickly which suppliers to work with and which vendors meet global compliance criteria.

Stuart McCready-Stocks stated, “With the backlash of climate disasters, economic uncertainties, geopolitical unrest, and high inflation, brands and fashion retailers continue to face significant challenges with a slew of new regulatory measures set to mandate stringent, compliance measures around sustainability and fair wages that will ultimately make them much more accountable for the working practices of their vendor partners. So, this new, powerful tool within GSDCost, backed by the Fair Wage Network and the International Labour Organization (ILO), therefore, could not have come at a better time, since we can now assist brands in fostering much more transparent and cooperative relationships with all of their supply partners, not only guaranteeing best working practices in general, but
