Bangladesh sees less FDI as clearance to start biz takes longer: BIDA

Lokman Hossain Miah, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), recently stated that a committee headed by the prime minister’s principal secretary had been formed to investigate the issue. He claims that Bangladesh attracts less foreign direct investment (FDI) because it takes comparatively longer to start a business here than in rival countries.

He stated during the February luncheon conference on “Investment for Smart Bangladesh,” hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh, “We are hopeful about the development within the next three months” (AmCham).

He bemoaned that although Vietnam provides all services in 35 days, Indonesia do so in 49 days, and India do so in 60 days, Bangladesh takes roughly six months to accomplish the same.

“It is morally and economically essential to invest in a smart Bangladesh. We can create a sustainable, better future for Bangladeshis by making the correct investments in infrastructure, education, technology, energy, and social inclusion. Let’s collaborate to make Bangladesh wiser for future generations. “Syed Ershad Ahmed, president of the AmCham, was mentioned in publications in Bangladeshi media.
