Yarn Expo Autumn in China will have 19% more exhibitors in 2023

The 27,000 sqm hive of industry, which is Asia’s largest yarn and fiber trade expo, received an astounding array of 510 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, a 19% increase over the previous edition. Bangladesh, France, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam were among the new exhibitor nations and areas that were represented at the Yarn Expo Autumn 2023 in Shanghai, which saw a roughly six-fold rise in the number of international booths.

Numerous cotton yarns, cellulose fibers, recycled synthetics, and other products were on display across the fair’s numerous zones and pavilions. According to a press release from the event’s organizer, Messe Frankfurt, the 20,297 purchasers from 106 countries and regions showed a significant increase in both overall participation and internationality (2021: 13,037 visitors from 28 countries and regions).

The yarn and fiber platform is a significant contributor to international industry trends since it brings together many prominent actors from around the world, and its fringe program frequently reflects the innovation found on the show floor. The importance of eco-friendliness in the textile supply chain has increased in recent years.

Sustainability is a topic that isn’t going anywhere, and at Yarn Expo Autumn 2023, we saw it tackled from a variety of angles on stage. Important industry figures shared their knowledge on how we can cooperate to advance our sector. Buyers have paid particular attention to the diversity of green products being shown by many of our foreign and domestic exhibitors at this edition of the fair, according to Wilmet Shea, general manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.

The recently introduced “Econogy” idea, which combines economics and ecology, is anticipated to have a long-lasting, positive effect on the Texpertise Network at Messe Frankfurt. This will only sharpen the spotlight on a topic that is already important to many fairgoers for Yarn Expo Autumn.

“Visitors are coming in droves to this exhibition in China, which is booming. According to our company’s policy, items should be durable, comfortable, and safe. We are showing viscose products and our newly created specialized bio-based fibers, as well as yarns for flame-retardant, protective layers. Customers can choose the items that best suit their desired application and market requirements by visiting other booths that are also showcasing sustainable and recycled possibilities, according to Tatsuo Usui, manager of the performance fiber and materials department at MN Inter-Fashion Ltd. in Japan.

China produces the most yarn in the world, so its product development is highly powerful. We are seeking business partners, and Yarn Expo brings together the top yarn manufacturers in the sector. We are hoping to interact with them on this platform and discover more solutions for our brand. We have consistently received reputable visitors and a ton of insightful direct feedback. The need for useful and environmentally friendly products will increase when the market recovers, according to Snowden Shi, general manager of The Movement China Ltd. in the Netherlands.

“Last year, we facilitated the export of Indian cotton textiles worth over $15 billion to more than 150 nations worldwide. In recent years, China has been our largest market. We came here with 46 firms because we saw the Yarn Expo as an opportunity to rebuild the market share that was lost due to the pandemic by strengthening existing partnerships and establishing new ones. This fair’s size cannot be matched by any other venue, and they are among the best in the world. The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL), India’s joint director, Murali Balkrishna, noted that visitors are particularly interested in recycled yarns and eco-friendly garments.

“This was our first time attending Yarn Expo, and we were impressed by its reach. By utilizing the fair’s proven capacity for resource integration and industry cohesiveness, we want to increase the number of orders from outside. We met several new customers from Japan and Vietnam, two countries with stronger purchasing aspirations, in addition to customers from Eastern China, our primary market. Our most recent eco-friendly functional yarns and cotton yarns that had been dyed were well-liked. It was highly satisfying to understand the present needs of various regions, according to Xiangou Liu, head of the overseas trade division at Huicai Textile Technology Co Ltd in China.

“Shortly, new bio-based fibers that are environmentally friendly and biodegradable will gradually replace conventional petroleum-based fibers. Yarn Expo Autumn 2023 has not only helped our business acquire notoriety but has also given us a chance to observe the eco-friendly ideas that other members of the industry have created. Visitors to the exhibition had no trouble navigating the hall because it was divided into zones, according to Kaifeng Xu, vice general manager of Anhui Huamao Textile Co., Ltd. in China.

“Yarn Expo gives us the chance to network with both new and seasoned customers, which undoubtedly increases our sales. We specifically target customers from South America, China, Korea, the Philippines, and Malaysia. We need to contact Chinese and Asian buyers at this show so they can export our goods all over the world. According to Dinh Nguyen Khanh, vice director of Phu Group, Vietnam, “Our brand is already well-established, and customers who visit our booth are eager for in-person interactions, which are essential to establishing business confidence.

I’ve visited this fair approximately eight times. You can already see the improvement after the epidemic. In this industry, face-to-face interactions are crucial, thus returning visitors are always welcomed by exhibitors. Concern for sustainability is growing. I’m here to find and market environmentally friendly goods while also supporting the use of organic, regenerative cotton and hunting for recycled yarns and fibers. I’ll probably come back here in the spring because we use this platform to establish contacts, said Henning Hammer, general director of Otto Stadtlander GmbH in Germany.

“It’s fantastic to be back after the pandemic; I see a lot of customers and potential suppliers. Because the majority of our buyers are seeking these kinds of items to provide to European and US garment businesses, sustainable and biodegradable products are my key priority this year. Recycled yarns and fibers are particularly prevalent here. I’ve been to a lot of trade shows, but Yarn Expo is in my opinion one of the finest places to find yarns, discover new fashions, and network with a lot of suppliers at once, saving both time and money, according to Mani Kant, director of Bishnu Texport Pvt Ltd in India.

“The forum was a terrific opportunity to address complex issues with subject-matter specialists. Yarn Expo, the biggest trade show in Asia, amplifies these perceptions. Businesses are adjusting to boost their worldwide competitiveness as eco-certification gains importance in the global market. Certification also supports suppliers’ environmentally friendly ideas. According to Ning Liu, intellectual property manager of Suzhou Jiahai Special Fiber Co Ltd in China, it promotes environmentally friendly upgrades to all upstream and downstream connections in the yarn production process.

Alongside Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, CHIC, and PH Value, Yarn Expo Autumn was presented. Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, are responsible for organizing the Yarn Expo Autumn.
