Singapore’s DyStar lowers wastewater and GHG emissions by over 30%

Leading specialty chemical business DyStar from Singapore has revealed that it has reduced its environmental impact in terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity and wastewater production intensity by more than 30%, compared to the baseline year 2011. One of the top suppliers and manufacturers in the globe, its business methods have produced notable advancements toward its 2025 goals and shown to be effective.

More specifically, with a total GHG emission of 56.91 thousand tCO2e, DyStar’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions intensity was 45% lower (tCO2e per ton production) than the baseline year 2011. Additionally, this is 9% less than fiscal (FY) 2021. According to DyStar’s 13th annual Integrated Sustainability Report, the company reduced wastewater production intensity by 24% from FY 2021 and by 52% from baseline year 2011, respectively.

When compared to FY 2021, there were additional noteworthy improvements. The outcomes of improving production efficiency and streamlining manufacturing indirectly helped to lower operating expenses by 5.8%. In addition to ensuring quality suppliers through internal audit, DyStar was recognized for its work with the Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs (IPE) on environmental performance and climate impacts and placed second among its industry on the IPE’s Green Supply Chain Corporate Information Transparency Index (CITI).
