Over the past year, Ralph Lauren, an American design company, has hit key milestones in its sustainability program, known as the ‘Timeless by Design approach. The organization has made significant progress on three major pillars: Create with Intent, Protect the Environment, and Champion Better Lives.
The formation of a clear plan to phase out coal in its supply chain is a significant focus of the approach, according to the company’s 2023 Global Citizenship & Sustainability Report.
Ralph Lauren has also achieved its zero waste objective. Across its distribution hubs, the business recorded a 92% waste diversion rate away from disposal and incineration.
Ralph Lauren has created the Cradle to Cradle Certified (C2C) Gold Luxury Cashmere Sweater as part of its commitment to supporting a circular economy. This is one of five classic items that the corporation has committed to C2C certification by 2025.
Ralph Lauren has also made achievements in the development of new items with environmentally friendly features. These endeavours include the release of the Polo Mirum shoe and crossbody purse, both of which include Mirum components from Natural Fibre Welding. These materials are fully plastic-free and created exclusively from plants and minerals, showing Ralph Lauren’s dedication to material innovation in the cause of sustainability.
“Ralph’s vision of timelessness is apparent in the beautiful products we create, and it’s our commitment to ensure this vision is carried into how we create and address our impact on the world,” said Katie Ioanilli, Ralph Lauren Corporation’s chief global impact and communications officer. “Our approach is based on science, ambitious goals, collaboration, and innovation, which will allow us to continue inspiring people to live the life of their dreams.”
