The Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan, has called on the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) to give fashion start-up development top priority, along with sustainability and inclusivity.
Speaking at the NIFT Chennai convocation, he stated that the market for distinctive handwoven goods has grown beyond local areas and is becoming more and more popular on a national and even worldwide scale.
According to him, the bright young brains at NIFT are ready to change the world, establish fresh fashions, and infuse fabrics with originality and creativity.
The fashion sector can have a significant beneficial influence, so we should strive for sustainable practices. In addition to demonstrating our inventiveness, the art we produce need to demonstrate our concern and reverence for the natural world, he added.
According to the government, promoting traditional Khadi and handloom is not only a way to empower people but also a way to honor the nation’s legacy, which during the Khadi Mahotsav had educated us all.
In total, 282 students from a variety of courses received diplomas, and 37 graduates were recognized for their academic achievement and extracurricular involvement with cash awards, gold medals, and citations.
