SEATTLE: Through a joint development agreement, WL Gore & Associates and Arzeda will work together to create sustainable textiles using the latter’s protein design technology.

To build wholly new proteins and enzymes, Arzeda blends a physics-based protein design methodology with artificial intelligence algorithms. The basic materials needed in industries like textiles, food, home care, and pharmaceuticals are then produced using these items.

The two businesses will now collaborate on proteins that can improve the durability, usefulness, and feel of fabrics while lessening their environmental effect after their original partnership with WL Gore in 2022.

The Intelligent Protein Design Technology program at Arzeda, according to CEO Alexandre Zanghellini, can promote more intelligent innovation on a large scale. The company’s technology platform, according to him, “creates novel proteins more effectively and with less risk by combining computational design and AI.” “When it comes to materials, we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of protein design’s potential. We are eager to expand our partnership with Gore to advance materials research innovation and tackle the most urgent issues facing the sector.
