To introduce the Natural Selection Collection, premier circular knitting mill Laguna Fabrics teamed together with Lenzing AG, a producer of lyocell fibers under the Tencel name, and Korea’s Hyosung, a producer of creora spandex. The importance of style, usefulness, and environmental responsibility are prioritized in this chic fabric collection manufactured with Tencel Lyocell and creora bio-based spandex fiber.
The interested companies claimed in a joint news statement that Laguna Fabrics uses Tencel Lyocell and creora bio-based spandex to develop a range that excels in performance and sustainability, addressing the need for certified eco-friendly fibers in the fashion industry. For modern women’s collections, such as premium tops, first-layer shapewear, and form-fitting dresses, the Natural Selection Collection offers sophisticated single jerseys, ribs, and interlocks.
Over 70% of our products are made from natural materials, as a result of our continued dedication to low-impact fibers, according to David Roshan, a spokesperson of Laguna Fabrics. “Through our collaboration with Hyosung, we were able to successfully combine their creora bio-based spandex, which is created with 30% renewable resources. This substitute stretch fiber performs incredibly well, overcoming the difficulty of establishing sustainable alternatives.
With bio-based ingredients derived from industrial field corn, Creora bio-based spandex substitutes 30% of petroleum-based resources. Recent independent life cycle analyses show a 20% decrease in carbon footprint compared to conventional spandex manufacture. “It gives us great pleasure to collaborate with Laguna Fabrics on this newly selected collection. The combination between Laguna, Hyosung, and Lenzing produces the high-performance, comfortable fabrics that consumers are looking for, according to Simon Whitmarsh-Knight, Hyosung’s global marketing director for textiles.
Tencel Lyocell fibers are created using wood that has been harvested responsibly, and they go through a special closed-loop manufacturing process that minimizes the production’s negative environmental effects by recovering and reusing the solvents that were used.
According to Erica Redd, business development manager at Lenzing Group, “The Natural Selection Collection exemplifies how crucial collaboration is in achieving and developing sustainable solutions for our industry.” To improve sustainability and satisfy consumer demand for performance, “Lenzing and the Tencel brand are committed to working with supply chain partners to develop innovations and new fabrications.”
The Natural Selection Collection proudly sports the “Made in Los Angeles” badge in addition to providing sustainability and performance. Tencel Lyocell, Creora Spandex, and Laguna Fabrics are committed to improving the usage of bio-based materials and ethical sourcing methods. The Natural Selection Collection made its debut at Functional Fabric Fair New York at Texworld New York in Lenzing’s exhibit (G14) as part of the Lenzing Pavilion and Hyosung’s stand (538).
