CPEC’s second phase crucial to boost Pakistan’s economic transformation: PM

At China’s 75th anniversary event, Shehbaz Sharif highlights that cooperation in mining, IT, and agriculture is essential to CPEC’s next phase.

According to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the country’s economy will be significantly transformed by the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

At a celebration held by the Chinese Embassy to commemorate China’s 75th anniversary, the prime minister declared, “We are entering the second phase of CPEC, which holds immense potential for mutual cooperation in agriculture, information technology, mining, minerals, and many other significant areas of shared interest.”

He expressed his congratulations to the Chinese government and people while underlining China’s standing as a major player in world affairs and a global force. Asif Ali Zardari, the former president, federal ministers, diplomats, dignitaries, and senior civil and military officials were present at the occasion.

Both leaders highlighted how committed they were to collaborating for a successful future, highlighting how strong and significant the friendship between China and Pakistan is. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the unbreakable relationship between the two countries by saying, “The friendship between Pakistan and China is higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the oceans.”

China played a crucial role in Pakistan’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as the prime minister also acknowledged. He did, however, emphasize that in order to secure Pakistan’s long-term growth and prosperity, important areas like industry and agriculture must be developed. He reaffirmed that, in line with President Xi Jinping’s vision, the continued relationship promoted global stability in addition to regional development and peace.

Regarding international matters, notably those pertaining to Taiwan and Hong Kong, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for China’s position. He praised the kind welcome he received from President Xi Jinping and other Chinese officials during his most recent visit to China and referred to the two nations’ relationship as “indestructible and inseparable.”

The Chinese Prime Minister’s attendance at the next Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of Government (SCO CHG) meeting in Islamabad is something the government is looking forward to, he added.
