APS Knit Composite Limited is certified as LEED Gold

Another Bangladeshi clothing business has obtained the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

The USGBC Gold LEED accreditation was awarded to Kamargaon, Pubail, Gazipur-based APS Knit Composite Limited, with a score of 71 points.

There are now 214 LEED-certified factories in Bangladesh, with 80 earning the Platinum accreditation and 120 earning the Gold certification.

Eight RMG plants have now received LEED certification this year; four of them are platinum and four are gold.

The country has been receiving the certificate since 2001.

A number of criteria, such as waste management, energy, water, and transformation performance, are taken into consideration by the council when awarding factories. Top performers receive platinum awards, followed by gold and silver.

“This is a testament to the dedication of our member factories who continuously strive for eco-friendly practices,” stated Faruque Hassan, president of the BGMEA. Adopting sustainable practices gives our industry a major competitive edge while simultaneously safeguarding the environment.

He continued, “This achievement strengthens Bangladesh’s standing as a global leader in sustainable apparel manufacturing.”
