United States is collaborating with ASEAN to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy: Blinken

The United States is collaborating with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to solve the climate issue and hasten the transition to sustainable energy, US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken stated recently in Jakarta.

This includes efforts to establish the US-ASEAN Climate Solutions Hub, which will assist ASEAN nations in strengthening their resilience and meeting their ambitious emissions reduction objectives, as well as collaboration on renewable energy storage and power transmission.

He traveled to Indonesia for the US-ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 13th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the 30th ASEAN Regional Forum. The United States is ASEAN’s largest source of foreign direct investment, with approximately 6,200 American firms operating in ASEAN member nations.

Last year, US commerce with ASEAN totaled more than $500 billion, supporting more than 625,000 employees in the US.

“We have invested significantly in the ASEAN Single Window to make that trade faster, cheaper, and more dependable.”  “That’s an automated system for clearing customs throughout the region,” Blinken stated during a press conference.

This year marks the 46th anniversary of US-ASEAN partner ties. Between 2002 and 2021, the US gave more than $12.1 billion in economic, health, and security assistance to Southeast Asian friends and partners, including the ten ASEAN member states.
