The LYCRA Company in the United States has launched its new Sheer Sensation technology, which is intended to alleviate the issue of static build-up in hosiery. With its cling-free component included inside the fiber, the breakthrough provides users with a solution for sheer hosiery, allowing conventional hosiery manufacture without affecting garment comfort, fit, or performance.
The LYCRA Sheer Sensation technology, which is laced with a proprietary anti-static ingredient, has been demonstrated to efficiently combat static electricity. This advantage is seen even when the hosiery is worn with materials and textiles that are prone to static cling. According to The LYCRA Company’s website, this anti-static characteristic, which is entrenched permanently into the fiber throughout the production process, offers the potential of a static-free clothing experience.
The technology, which is machine or hand washable, maintains its anti-static qualities, ensuring constant performance. It raises the bar for everyday hosiery standards by assuring the homogeneity and invisibility of the spandex/elastane fiber.
LYCRA Sheer Sensation technology also improves dye color absorption, allowing the production of cling-free hosiery in a wide range of hues. This adaptability enables the manufacture of hosiery and tights to match various skin tones.
Furthermore, hosiery made using LYCRA Sheer Sensation technology can save water throughout the production process. LYCRA Sheer Sensation fiber may be treated in the same way as normal LYCRA fiber is.
Garments can be colored without losing their anti-static qualities and washed without losing their anti-cling performance.
To improve the anti-static performance of Sheer Sensation technology, sheer hosiery garments of 20 deniers or less should be knitted using bare LYCRA fiber. When fibers are exposed, the anti-static effectiveness improves even more by increasing the number of potential contact sites with clothes.
Static has traditionally been a problem for the majority of hosiery users. According to surveys, 58% of UK hosiery wearers consider static to be an annoyance. Significantly, 63% are willing to purchase tights that can reduce or eliminate this issue, according to The LYCRA Company.
