China reaffirmed its unshakeable dedication to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its close friendship with Pakistan, saying any attempt to sever these ties will fail.
This firm statement was given by Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, during a regular press conference. There will be no success in trying to undermine the friendship between China and Pakistan or the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
This declaration comes a day after terrorists attacked a military convoy en route to a port project in Gwadar carrying Chinese workers under protection. No civilian or military injuries were reported despite the attack, and the quick response resulted in the death of two attackers.
Without revealing the presence of Chinese nationals, the army’s media wing had stated in a statement that “due to the efficient and swift response, two terrorists were sent to hell with no harm to any military or civil persons.”
A Chinese convoy from the Gwadar port project “was hit by roadside bombs and gunfire on its way back to the port area from the Gwadar Airport,” the Chinese consulate in Karachi had reported at the time.
No Chinese nationals were killed or hurt in the attack, according to the consulate. Additionally, it had requested that Pakistan “severely punish the perpetrators and take concrete and effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects”.
An affiliate of the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army known as the Majid Brigade claimed responsibility for the assault.
The Chinese spokesperson reaffirmed that “no Chinese citizens were killed or injured” in the statement they released today.
Wenbin demanded that Pakistani officials “bring the perpetrators to justice and take actions to keep Chinese nationals safe” while vehemently condemning the attack.
He continued by saying that the Chinese embassy and consulate “immediately activated the emergency response mechanism” and warned Chinese nationals, businesses, and project-building teams in Pakistan to be vigilant.
The statement added that it urged them to “upgrade security measures, closely monitor the security environment on the ground, be vigilant against security risks, and maintain their safety.”
The rest of Wenbin’s statement continued, “China will continue to work with Pakistan to jointly guard against and counter the threats of terrorism and effectively protect the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in Pakistan.”
Wenbin said that China had expressed its congratulations to Anwaarul Haq Kakar on being named caretaker premier of Pakistan after he had just been sworn in.
He continued, “The ironclad relationship between China and Pakistan will always be rock-firm and unbreakable, regardless of how the international environment and the local circumstances in Pakistan may alter.
In the words of Wenbin, “China stands ready to work with Pakistan to advance our all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, build an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, and bring more benefits to the two countries and two peoples.”
