40,000 metric tons of sugar will be imported by Tajikistan from Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, September 23, A.P. A deal for the import of 40,000 metric tons of sugar from Pakistan will be signed by Tajikistan; the Trade Corporation of Pakistan will help the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association and Tajikistan’s State Reserve Material Reserve to make the deal a reality.

In a meeting with Director of State of Tajikistan Ahmadzoda Nurmuhamad Ato, who called on Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain for National Food Security and Research, a consensus to this effect was developed. The discussion covered issues pertaining to mutual interest and the promotion of bilateral trade and investment.

A news release released here on Monday stated that Agha Mullah Amounullah, Representative General of Logistics Company ZFA General Trading, and Head of Department of International Cooperation Tolibov Muhammadjon, Abdulatoevich, were also presented at the meeting.

The statement added that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet had approved the export of roughly 40,000 metric tons of sugar to the Republic of Tajikistan. Saif Anjum, Secretary, Ministry of Industries and Production, also attended the meeting.
In addition to building storage facilities along border areas and implementing trade facilitation measures, both parties decided to form a joint working group to advance bilateral trade relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan and to start a commercial cooperation in food items.
Speaking at the event, Rana Tanveer declared that Pakistan was prepared to assist Tajikistan in meeting its needs for culinary goods and in fostering trade and business connections between the two nations.
